Welcome to the Old Wakefield School Project
Located at 20 chemin des Caves, Wakefield, Quebec, the former Wakefield School has been an important part of the community for generations. For many local families, it represents cherished memories, learning, and the history of Wakefield itself.
Our vision is to preserve this historic property while giving it new purpose for future generations. Rather than allowing the site to deteriorate or be lost, we are working with the Municipality of La Pêche, architects, planners, engineers, and the community to transform it into a vibrant campus that combines education, housing, and community uses.
Following the recent approval of educational zoning for part of the property, we are now welcoming interest from educators, schools, outdoor learning organizations, camps, training providers, and other community-focused organizations who share our vision of bringing educational activities back to this unique campus.
At the same time, we continue planning the adaptive reuse of the original school building as a 12-unit residential development, helping preserve the historic structure while contributing to Wakefield's growing housing needs.
We are committed to:
Preserving the history and character of the former Wakefield School.
Supporting education by creating opportunities for schools, camps, training providers, and community organizations.
Providing housing through the thoughtful redevelopment of the original school building.
Working collaboratively with the Municipality of La Pêche, our professional consultants, and the community.
Keeping the public informed through transparent updates as the project progresses.
This website has been created to:
Share accurate and up-to-date information about the property and its redevelopment.
Provide regular updates on planning, zoning, and project milestones.
Present our long-term vision for preserving this important community landmark.
Invite educators, community organizations, and potential partners to explore opportunities on the campus.
Encourage constructive dialogue and collaboration as we move forward together.
We welcome your interest, ideas, and partnership as we work to preserve the past while creating new opportunities for the future.
